Gerbil pups available for sale

Because we will soon be moving and can't take animals with us, we have rehomed all our gerbils. I do, however, know of a couple other breeders in the area, so if you are looking for gerbils you can contact me for their information. gerbils@silvanon.com

Descriptions of Colors

Agouti - The natural color of gerbils. Hairs on the back are black with brown/orange in the middle, making an even mix of orange with black ticking. The belly is greyish white. Spotted individuals are slightly lighter. Black eyes.

Argente - Tan with a white belly. Deep ruby eyes. If you brush back the fur on the back, the roots are grey. The spotted variety is slightly lighter than the solid.

Black - Completely black. Often has a "bib" or white line running down the chin. May also have some white on the paws. Any white on the belly is due to spotting and will be irregularly shaped in most cases. Black eyes.

Burmese - Gerbil starts out a dark chocolate color. At eight weeks, it molts and the tail, nose, feet and tips of the ear go black. Black eyes. The main body color stays the same. Often has a "bib" or white line running down the chin. May also have some white on the paws. Spotted individuals are slightly lighter in color.

Colorpoint Agouti - White base with a liberal amount of silvery-brownish ticking along the back. Belly is white and eyes are black.

Dark Eyed Honey - Gerbil starts out a brownish-orange color with a white belly. At 8 weeks the gerbil molts and minimal black ticking appears along the back. Black eyes.

Dark Tailed White - Gerbil starts out totally white. At anywhere from 3 months to 12 months, the gerbil molts into a darker colored tail. Eyes appear ruby even though the gerbil carries the dominant black eye gene.

Grey Agouti - Hairs on the back are dark grey with white in the middle, making an even salt-and-pepper look. The belly is greyish white. Spotted individuals are slightly lighter. Black eyes. Also known as Chinchilla.

Ivory Cream - Off-white cream color, white belly, ruby eyes.

Light Colorpoint Agouti - White base with a small amount of silvery-brownish ticking along the back. Belly is white and eyes are black.

Light Red Fox - Gerbil is a light creamy red color over it's entire body, with the color lightening somewhat through the belly area. Often has a "bib" or white line running down the chin. May also have some white on the paws. Any white on the belly is due to spotting and will be irregularly shaped in most cases. Ruby eyes.

Light Yellow Fox - Gerbil is a light creamy orangish color, with a white belly. Ruby eyes.

Nutmeg - Gerbil starts out a brown-orange color over the entire body. At 8 weeks the gerbil molts and liberal black ticking appears along the back with a lesser amount on the belly. Black eyes.

Pink Eyed White - Completely white gerbil with light ruby eyes.

Polar Fox - Gerbil starts out a creamy ivory color. At 8 weeks the gerbil molts and the hairs become whiter and minimal greyish ticking appears along the back. Black eyes.

Red Fox - Gerbil is a creamy red color over it's entire body, with the color lightening somewhat through the belly area. Often has a "bib" or white line running down the chin. May also have some white on the paws. Any white on the belly is due to spotting and will be irregularly shaped in most cases. Ruby eyes.

Schimmel - Gerbil starts out a tan/creamy orange color. At eight weeks old, it molts and the body lightens towards white. The gerbil's body continues to lighten throughout its life until it has a white body. The tail, nose, feet and tips of the ears remain creamy orange. Black eyes.

Siamese - Gerbil starts out a light milk chocolate color. At eight weeks, it molts and the tail, nose, feet and tips of the ear go black. The main body color stays the same. Black eyes. Often has a "bib" or white line running down the chin. May also have some white on the paws. Spotted individuals are slightly lighter in color.

Silver Nutmeg - Gerbil starts out a creamy ivory color. At 8 weeks the gerbil molts and the hairs become whiter and liberal greyish ticking appears along the back with a lesser amount on the belly. Black eyes.
